ABC countdown

We had applesauce on A day. It had cinnamon in it. B day was bubble day. We blew a big bubble. C day was when people wore their caps. On D day, we got donuts from Aiden. They were delicious. E was for exercise. Mrs. Gengler's favorite part was doing the "Go Chicken Fat Go" exercise. F was for friendship day. We made butterfly friends and flowers. G was for gum day and for graduation. We had cake and chocolate and pink milk. We chewed bubble gum and tried to blow a bubble. Seventeen can blow a bubble and fourteen cannot blow a bubble yet. Today was letter H day. It was hot dog day. Aviona said, "It is fun learning letters"

We had a special Phy. Ed today. We had relays. We were playing a game with a little blue jello guy. The object of the game was to stay as still as possible to keep the little blue jello guy still. Then we did scooter relays. There were two teams. The person who started had to scooter to the other side of the room. The next person had to scooter back. We went back and forth until we everybody went. Zachary said, "I liked today!"

This is how we fill each other's bucket. Liliah did Maggie's hair to make it look nice. Christian filled Khalil's bucket because he invited him to play Zoo Keepers. Mairin helped Alexzandra feel better. Grayson said, " Zachary filled my bucket because he played dogs with me."

We watched a movie called Brother Bear.  There was a brother who was turned into an eagle. There was a big bear and a little bear. The big bear was actually one of the brothers. Aiden said,"I like the movie".

We had math today. Marquette college students came in and we split up in groups. Some of us added 2 double digit numbers like, 40 + 22 =. The first grade boys learned how to do some multiplication. Some of us played Subtraction Bingo. Nevaeh said, "Math was fun today!"  

We played in the snow.  Some of us went on the snow banks. We need to wear snow pants and boots to play on the snow banks. We can make snowmen. The snow is wet. Tomorrow we are going to bring extra socks and extra mittens. Ishaal said, "The snow was fun".

We learned about a globe. The globe helped us learn about the Earth.  The Earth has land and water. There were states on the globe. We can see clouds on the Earth.  Trees, desert, mountains, grass and bamboo  are types of land. The ocean, lakes, waterfalls, and ponds are types of water. Alexzandra said, "The mimio game was fun".

We have new rules at PIT time. Once you pick your room, you have to stay there. We have to play quietly. When the lights go off, you have to clean up quietly. If you are in the Batman room, line up by the door. Line up at the door so you don't go running and trip someone or yourself. Henry said, "PIT time is fun."

We had daily 5. We made pictures.  Some of us got jelly beans because we were really quiet.  Some of us read to a partner.  Some of us got to read with the teacher. There are rules in daily 5.  At choice, only one person can pick an activity.  We can't cut or glue during daily 5.  Voices are off while the teacher is reading which means no talking. We switch choices quickly and very quietly. Elizabeth said, "I like going to listening".

Last night was our open house.  We played math games. One of them used cards.  We shared our i-pads with our parents. We read our guided reading book and stories from our writing folder. Some of us got our report cards. Mrs. Gengler and Mrs. Kozlosky are very proud of us.  After the open house we put a ticket by basket for a raffle.  Three of us won! Maggie won the baby basket, Nevaeh won the game basket and Caylie won the Superhero basket. We hope that our school earned a lot of money for our new playground.

Finally! We could go outside and get some fresh air. It was fun outside but it was still cold. Some of the kids stayed inside for afternoon recess/PIT Time. Some of the kids went outside. Some of the kids went in the house. Some of the kids went on the snow banks. Mrs. Kozlosky, "Don't forget your snow pants and boots for the snow hills." Nevaeh said, "It was a fun day."

The sidekicks went to music.  We have a new music room. It is on the 3rd floor.  We learned a new song.  We sang songs from the movie Frozen. The supers went to art.  We rolled marbles on indigo or blue paper plates.  The marbles had white paint on them.  It made a cool design on the plate. Khalil said, "It was great day".

We did writing today.  We wrote about what we got for Christmas.  Supers tried to write four sentences, Sidekicks tried to write as much as they can.  We worked on only having capital letters at the beginning of our sentences and periods at the end.  Henry said, "writing was fun."
