We had recess at the end of the day. If you want to go on the snowbanks, you need snowpants and boots. It was kind of warm but kind of cold too. It was very sunny. We couldn't go on the swings because there were puddles. The weather is getting nice and the snow is melting. We are getting closer to Spring. Sophia's dad thinks 24 more days until Spring. Aubrey said, "Me, Lizzie, Deja, Jocelyn and Brookelyn were playing on the little snowbank and Deja made a slide."

Teacher Talk

Hi Families,
We celebrated the number 100 this week. We made 100 hats, we wrote to 100, went on a 100 heart hunt, wrote in our journals about 100 and made a 100 book. 100 is a fun number.  We will start counting down to the last day of school. We have 68 more days. Wow! Summer will be here before we know it.

We will be holding a open house on Tuesday March 5th from 4:30-7:30. You will have an opportunity to meet with each teacher and also see the wonderful work your child has been doing so far this year. A note went home on Friday. Please send it to school and let us know if will be attending.

Progress reports were sent home on Friday. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Enjoy your week.

In Math, we did the same activity as Mrs. Galewski's class. There were 100 hearts on a page. We had to write in the numbers. We wrote to 100. We had to use a pencil and get all the way down to 100. If they were all right, we had to color it in with markers. We had to write the numbers inside the hearts. Tomorrow we will get to 100 on our 100's chart. It's really fun having the 100th day. Alissa said, "It was a good day."

Dear Families,
We had a very snowy week! The children are having lots of fun in the snow as you can see from our pictures below. The children can only go on the snow hills if they have snow boots and snow pants. It's also a good idea to leave an extra pair of mittens and hooded sweatshirt at school. Please feel free to send those things to school so we can keep them dry and warm.
We are also finishing up our Inquiry Unit on Whales. The children are bringing in so many interresting things from home. We have watched some really cool videos from Sea World.
The children are continuing to show us how much they are learning in Math. We have been working on our Math Assessments for counting and adding larger numbers. Next we will be moving onto more adding and subtracting concepts. You can help your child at home by practicing counting to 100, then counting by twos and fives, then counting backwards from twenty. These are skills we will be testing on eventually.
Our Valentine's party will be this Thursday. You can send in Valentine cards whenever they are ready. It will be a fun day for the children. They have so much fun passing out cards with their friends.
We are really enjoying having our student teacher Ms. Stevenson here. She is doing a great job and the students are having fun working with her.
                                                                                       Have a great week!

Brr!

It was another cold week with indoor recess. Although the kids enjoyed the little extra free time, it was hard being stuck inside all day. We continued to learn about whales. The kids are still so engaged in learning about them. I  hope they are bringing home interesting facts to share with you. On Feb. 21st, you will have your first chance to come in to see all the great work about whales hanging in the hall. Feb. 21st is "bring your family to school" day. On March 5th, we will hold an open house in the evening where you can also view our whales. Information about both days will come home at a later date.

I (Mrs. G) spent Thursday and Friday this week at a district sponsored seminar about diversity. It was very interesting and I feel that the diversity of our families is one of the very best qualities of the West Allis school district.

Please remember to dress your child for playing in the snow everyday no matter what the weather. The kids are always so disappointed when they can not play in the snow piles with their friends because they do not have snowpants or boots.

Lavel was our star today. He brought cupcakes for snack. The cupcakes had sprinkles and frosting on them. There were two flavors to choose from. It was chocolate and vanilla. We didn't have enough chocolate for everyone but we had enough of vanilla. More people wanted chocolate. But we really liked the cupcakes anyway. Thank you Jackie. Lavel said, "I loved being the star."
